Bankruptcy: There are two primary types of personal bankruptcy: Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. Chapter 7 is called liquidation. It is the most common. Chapter 13 allows debtors to keep property, such as a house or car. In Chapter 13, the court approves a repayment plan with a default date.
